A gentle guide
How to use
Jungle Coffee.
A slow, simple ritual in six steps. If this is your first time, we recommend reading through the entire guide before you begin — and consulting a qualified practitioner familiar with your health history.
Before you begin
What you'll need
Gather everything before you start. The ritual works best when nothing has to be hunted for halfway through.
- 01Jungle Coffee — 2 tablespoons whole beans (or pre-ground)
- 021 litre of filtered, spring, or distilled water
- 03A small saucepan (stainless steel or glass)
- 04A fine mesh strainer or unbleached paper coffee filter
- 05An enema kit (silicone bag or stainless bucket with tubing)
- 06A clean towel, a mat, and a quiet hour
The ritual
Six steps, unhurried.
Step 01
Grind the beans
Grind 2 tablespoons of whole green beans to a medium–coarse consistency — similar to coarse sea salt. A burr grinder is ideal. If you bought it pre-ground, simply measure 2 tablespoons.
Step 02
Combine with water
Add the grounds to 1 litre of filtered, spring, or distilled water in a clean stainless or glass saucepan. Tap water and metals other than stainless are not recommended.
Step 03
Simmer gently
Bring the water to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer for 12–15 minutes — uncovered. The brew will turn a deep amber-green and smell faintly herbaceous.
Step 04
Strain thoroughly
Pour the brew through a fine mesh strainer or unbleached paper filter into a clean glass jar or bowl. Strain twice if you see fine sediment — clarity matters.
Step 05
Cool to body temperature
Allow the brew to cool to roughly 37°C / 98.6°F — warm to the wrist, never hot, never cold. Top up with cool filtered water if needed to reach the full litre.
Step 06
Retain & release
Lying on your right side, gently introduce the brew using your enema kit. Aim to retain for 12–15 minutes — breathe slowly and rest. Release into the toilet when ready, then rinse and rest a few minutes longer.
A few notes
Listen to your
body, always.
Start small. If this is your first time, begin with a half-strength brew (1 tablespoon per 500ml) and a smaller volume — around 250ml retained for 5–10 minutes.
Hydrate well. Coffee enemas can affect electrolyte balance. Drink mineral-rich water, eat potassium-rich foods, and pause if you notice fatigue, headaches, or cramping.
Frequency. General wellness use is typically 1–3 times per week. Therapeutic protocols may call for more — always under practitioner guidance.
When to avoid. Not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with severe hemorrhoids, active inflammatory bowel disease, kidney failure, recent intestinal surgery, or known caffeine sensitivity.
